IdeaTek's $5,000 Donation Accelerates Progress on Augusta's Castle Park Revival
Nov. 9, 2023
A $5,000 donation by IdeaTek is helping bring Augusta’s Castle Park Project one step closer to completion.
Earlier this month, IdeaTek pledged financial support for the $600,000 initiative aimed at rebuilding a castle-themed playscape for children located near Augusta City Lake. Community leaders are actively raising $300,000 towards this goal, with the city of Augusta committing to cover the remaining portion.
Local residents originally united in 2001 to build the cherished park, which has been a favorite among both locals and visitors. Unfortunately, the park was dismantled in April 2022 due to termite damage.
“Integrating into the communities IdeaTek serves by supporting local initiatives is a key component of IdeaTek’s mission,” said IdeaTek’s Community and Public Relations Manager James Krsitolich. “Our donation is a step toward rebuilding Augusta’s Castle Park and providing youth with a place to explore, imagine and play.”
A group of local leaders, including Rep. Kristey Williams, is spearheading the effort. Williams outlined their plans to secure the necessary funds by spring, with volunteers set to rebuild the park during the week of May 28 to June 2, 2024.
“Bringing our Castle Park back to life has been our community mission,” Williams said. “Partnering with IdeaTek, one of our earliest corporate sponsors, is a blessing to our community! Augusta appreciates our partners who make the build possible one donation at a time.”
IdeaTek is currently building fiber internet to the entire city of Augusta. Building fiber takes time, but soon residents can look forward to:
- Symmetrical upload and download speeds of up to 2.5 gigabits per second
- Unlimited data
- No throttling, interruptions or lag time
- No annual contracts
- Friendly, Kansas-based customer service
IdeaTek was founded in 1999 by Daniel Friesen and four high school friends. Today, the company employs over 150 Kansans and is continuing to grow. IdeaTek has deployed more than 4,500 miles of fiber and built 150 fixed wireless towers, serving customers in nearly 100 Kansas communities.
